Asteroid City is a 2023 American comedy-drama film written, directed, and produced by Wes Anderson, from a story he wrote with Roman Coppola. The Writers Guild of America strike has officially ended after union council members unanimously voted to return to work amid negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The three-year deal will increase minimums, has rules about artificial intelligence and will provide a bonus for viewership residuals on streaming.

Ava DuVernay makes history as first Black woman to have film compete in Venice Film Festival

At the Venice Film Festival press conference for Ava DuVernay’s new film “Origin” on Wednesday, the director revealed that she has previously been told not to apply to the festival because “you won’t get in.”

DuVernay is making history this year as the first African American woman in the festival’s 80-year existence to have a film compete for the Golden Lion.
